NOVEMBER 17, 2003:
At the AIPG's AGM today, Paul Flowerman, of member P.L. Thomas & Co., Inc. proposed the significant raising of the profile of the AIPG as the leading voice on behalf of the tree exudate gums industry. He asserted that important news about industry developments, such as innovations in tree resource preservation and gum collection, expanded uses of the processed gum products, notably natural foods, organic certification, etc. These will be publicized through the web page as well as in press releases and advertisements. He suggested that a member committee be formed to examine the promotional efforts of other ingredient associations, such as the gelatin producers association, to determine a suitable model for the AIPG.
The explicit objective of the effort will be to enhance the overall amount of gum usage internationally without conferring any advantage to any specific industry member.
